I have seen the changes that have happened in my body as I age. I have known other people who have taken Yoga with me in the past as well as teachers who have taught even longer than me. What astounded me was the number of hip replacements that have happened in this field of the people we have all respected. Some of these advanced poses have caused ligament damage in myknees (and I have used good alignment skills while doing these poses). In the past few years, I haven't felt GREAT after practice so itinspired me to move to other avenues such as the MELT Method, Neuro Kinetic Therapy (NKT), Bowspring, etc.

I have developed Medicinal Movement a simplified series of movements which are invigorating yet nurturing; the most restorative practices I have ever experienced.

What I also have learned is that as SOON as I misalign, I know it! It just doesn't feel right and therefore I can effectively correct. What I have noticed in other styles that I have done and taught, I could get away with misaligning and not feel the negative impact so could get away with it until it was too late. And this is from someone that has ALWAYS worked hard on alignment!!

It would be so much easier to just keep teaching the same thing and people seem to like not having to change. However, I can't honestly do something when I have found another way that is so much more healthy for my body, mind and spirit. I am used to being a pioneer in that I started Yoga here way before many and even got ridiculed.

So once again we begin and move into a new, healthier direction.

Come and join me in Medicinal Movement! Based on the concept shared in an article in Prevention magazine , Joyce and her students have confirmed that these simple foam rolling techniques can reduce muscle fatigue and soreness; significantly enough that the following workout actually feels easier!

And proper foam rolling performed as part of your cooldown actually helps to reduce occasional post exercise discomfort.

Joyce's students have told her how the foam rolling techniques that she has shared with them have also helped to ease many of their aches and pains (by improving blood flow; rehydrating and restoring muscular and joint function).

Because Rehydrate, Roll, and Yoga sessions have helped many of her students feel so much better, Joyce has found these sessions personally rewarding, too.

Often, people who do not learn these simple foam roller techniques tend to press too hard on their rollers, in an effort to get relief from their pain. Pressing too hard on their rollers can be painful; the pain relief is not achieved.

To get the benefits of foam rolling without adding pain, Joyce recommends attending one of her Rehydrate, Roll, and Yoga sessions at Jacksonville Yoga studio, in Jacksonville Beach.

The 10 week Rehydrate, Roll, and Yoga series is only $130! Joyce offers this series at a very affordable price, to make it available to help more people who are suffering with various aches and pains.

Based on her experience and feedback from students, it is advised to have a private session with Joyce before starting a series with a group of people.

Find out more about pain relief with Rehydrate, Roll, and Yoga just Contact Jacksonville Yoga or Call (904) 635-6762.

Corrective Exercise Training https://www.jacksonvilleyoga.com/blog/corrective-exercise-training https://www.jacksonvilleyoga.com/blog/corrective-exercise-training Mon, 03 May 2021 02:33:21 +0000 https://www.jacksonvilleyoga.com/blog/corrective-exercise-training#comments
Muscle imbalances lead to poor movement. My teacher, John Friend, taught me about this when I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist which was causing me alot of pain in handstand, sun salutation, backbends and any arm balance.

So here is the key: top of the arm bones back/lowertips of the shouldblades in!

Usually we all bend forward to read, type on the computor, take care of children and loved ones. The very top of the arm bone (at the shoulder) usually goes forward from the above activities. Try facing a wall and take your right arm out to the side, palm up, and press the little finger part of the hand into the wall. Take the top of the arm bone back as you turn your body away from the wall. Feel the lower tip of your shoulder blade moving into your back. Then when you are doing backbends, etc. see if you can keep this action. Hopefully, this will help to heal your pain in the wrist!
Proper instruction for Back-Bends https://www.jacksonvilleyoga.com/blog/proper-instruction-for-back-bends https://www.jacksonvilleyoga.com/blog/proper-instruction-for-back-bends Mon, 03 May 2021 03:09:11 +0000 https://www.jacksonvilleyoga.com/blog/proper-instruction-for-back-bends#comments
Many people think that backbends are bad for their back and very difficult to do.

We are here to tell you that is not true if done with proper instruction!!

When the spine is in a backbend, the spine moves into the body; therefore, bulging disk can find relief. Also, if you learn how to go up in abackbend using the back plane of your body, it will feel like you are justfloating up with ease.

Hard to believe? Joyce Savitz can teach you how to do back bends properly. You will be amazed how good you will feel when you do back bends with proper instruction.

There have been several articles in Yoga Journal about the benefits of doing backbends properly.

After experiencing what using the back plane of the body you will understand on a deeper level what is being taught by fellow Anusara Teachers such as Desiree Rumbaugh (wrote the most recent article in Yoga Journal on backbends).

Contact Joyce at Jacksonville Yoga to find out when her next session including back bend instruction will be held.
